One of the most vivid and colourful deities in mythology, Zeus is the epitome of power in all its aspects - spiritual, intellectual, emotional and sexual. A large part of his legacy is incorporated in Monotheism in its single, almighty God. The legend of his birth resembles the birth of Christ. Born in a cave, hidden from the world by his mother because of a threat to his life, he will later lead a rebellion that will change the world. His heroic deed will later be repeated by Christ, who will assume the role of the rebel in the opposite way - the way of self-sacrifice.
Zeus (in Greek: nominative: Ζεύς Zeús, genitive: Διός Diós - pronounced [z(j)uːs]) in Greek mythology is the king of the gods, the ruler of Mount Olympus, and the god of the sky and thunder. His symbols are the thunderbolt, eagle, bull and the oak... Zeus is frequently depicted by Greek artists in one of two poses: standing, striding forward, a thunderbolt leveled in his raised right hand, or seated in majesty...
